Peter Cagner hasn't added a story.
Food insecurity is a significant issue in East Africa because of the long rain and equally long dry seasons, which prohibit farmers from growing crops year-round thus causing seasonal starvation and unemployment.
The Project also wants to employ construction workers and to train them in building the Mavuuno greenhouses for customers.
This social enterprise is a win-win situation for Rwandans, where the owners can make money from constructig and selling greenhouses, The Production of Greenhouses create jobs by employing young construction workers, and also provide small-scale farmers an affordable way to increase their food security.
The people they are helping have next to nothing to start with, and can barely feed or support there families. The Rwandan people are so grateful to be able through this project to work and earn wages during the wet and dry seasons as well as support and feed there families.
All Expenses for the Trip is the sole responsibility of the Interns going on the project.
Jonathan has already earned a $900 grant towards the trip, and is presently working on an additional $250 scholarship, but earning only $7.75 an hour working part time while keeping up with his full schedule of studies is a difficult uphill struggle.
He is committed to keeping his commitment to help the people of Rwanda. The Air Travel expense alone from LAX to Rwanda is about $2500.00 RT, plus his expenses for 2 weeks while abroad, which is estimated at 4-$500 a week. He needs to obtain all his injections and medications on his own from the CDC for $250.00, Meals and lodging while there is included in the weekly expendatures.
The estimated total cost of the Trip is approximately $3500 dollars.
We are so proud of him, and he is working so hard to meet his goals, and I only wish we could afford to pay all of his expenses, but times are so tough right now, we can barely make ends meet as is between Jonathans school expenses, his brothers college expenses, and our own living expenses at home.
Any type of help no matter how much or how little will genuinely help more than you can ever know, not just for Jonathan, but for the people or Rwanda for who he is going on this trip to help in the first place.
