Hola! Did you, or someone you know well, come from a far-away land?

Do you find yourself reminiscing over the way things were done there, the music, the dance, the food, the way people interact with each other?

The Latin Choir Brisbane sprouted in the thick of the pandemic, in 2020, from the need of 6 friends from Latin America to stay connected to aspects of their culture such as music, dance, food, modes of socialising, and celebration of iconic calendar festivities. Since then, the choir has grown to over 30 members from over 14 countries including Australia. We value our community, our connection to our origins and ancestors, as much as the lands and people that have received us here in Australia, and we intend to share some of the things that make us feel connected to our essence, music being at the forefront. 

We deeply value the diversity and intercultural exchange that this choir provides. This is true not only for the Latin American community, but for the Australian people from different backgrounds, who are joining this group and enjoying the exposure to a culturally diverse way of doing things, such as singing in Portuguese and Spanish (and sharing food and drinks in between songs). 

Our commitment to the broader community keeps growing and we intend to keep evolving and developing more elaborate work in collaboration with other artists from the Latin community. We wish to continue to showcase the richness of these cross-cultural encounters, which we hope will bring much joy to our audiences all over Greater Brisbane. 

It is an ambitious purpose, and we need support to be able to grow into where we want to go.
